    New shows don't impress.

I'm quickly losing interest in "666 Park Avenue." I may give "Revolution" a try, but I'll have to catch up on the back episodes since I haven't seen it yet.

    Introducing the new woman

I would have a couple of talks with my daughter before bringing the new woman onto the scene just to let her know that you are concerned about her feelings in all this. Just knowing that you are factoring in her feelings is so much better than just forcing the issue without even consulting her.

    Christmas shopping

How many fathers take their children shopping to buy special Christmas presents for their mother? We always enjoy our special Daddy-children day off between Thanksgiving and the first of the year. That's when we sneak away from Mommy and visit the stores. We have lunch and make an excursion out...

    Punishment Ideas

I've noticed with some of the children in our respective families that the kids learn to manipulate their parents through the temper tantrums. They try things with their own parents they wouldn't dare try when one of the aunts or uncles are keeping them. Try evaluating your own responses and see...

    Saving for big ticket items

She does have a list of chores that are her responsibility around the house. We don't pay her for those because they are her job. She is earning a little extra by doing some more work, or even for doing a little of my work. I was just wondering about how young to start children doing this.

    Forehead Slap Moments

We've been able to find movies at the library we never even knew existed. I love that people can sign up on a waiting list or a request list, too. Some are really educational. Others are just for entertainment. Best of all, they are free.

How often does your wife get out on her own?

My wife has two sisters closer to her age. All of their children are the same approximate ages as ours. They're all the time doing something or taking care of one group of kids so the moms can run their errands. We're a lucky family.

    Negative talk

It does seem harder than it used to be to get ahead. We have regular savings plans and do a fair amount of investing. We also have rainy day funds, but we both contribute. It has to be harder when only one person is bringing in the income.

    Saving for big ticket items

My daughter has been asking for a big ticket item since the summer. It's expensive, so we told her it cost too much to just go buy. She has a birthday coming up and then there is Christmas. How old is old enough to give her money for birthday and Christmas so she can save up for her more...

    Raising Teens

If mine could be half as sweet as teens as they've been children, my wife and I will be one lucky couple. Alas! I know it can't possibly be, but I do know some families with teens I would love to call mine.

    Babies Trick or Treating

I have never known anyone who was giving out trick-or-treat candy to be bothered one iota about parents who dress their little ones up and go knocking on doors. All of us can identify with those few precious moments in your lives. The children are adorable, especially the little ones. Enjoy the...

Who the heck is de la Malgue?

De La Malgue Bear, we did end up going with Paul Marin de la Malgue and found enough information to complete the assignment. The teacher's handout didn't have Paul on it, but I did come across the real name while researching. I hated to ask the teacher, because sometimes that's part of the...

    So much for Fall

It is strange how some seasons of late have had very little transition. I missed a lot of spring, and it seems we went from summer into winter, except for a few brief golden days. I keep hoping some of the fall weather will return before the snow flies.

    Flu Shot?

We haven't gotten ours for this year, although we did take the children to their pediatrician for whatever shots he thought they needed. We always put ourselves last, don't we?

    Raising Teens

Mine aren't there yet, but I see it coming already. The girls especially like to mimic what they see in older girls on television. I'm not liking some of the body movements already, not to mention their taste in fashion.
