    Irrational Spending?

That's so true! I had to hit rock bottom before I realized what saving is all about. Thankfully, that happened when I was younger, so I learned my lesson early on in life.

    Irrational Spending?

There isn't much you can say. I've tried to help people like that, but the best advice in the world isn't going to stop them from spending until they decide to make a change. Like so many other things, it's a habit that needs to be broken by the person who is doing it.

    When mom needs a break

My wife's idea of downtime is to lock herself in our bedroom and watch old movies or to go to the bookstore by herself. Whenever I see she's about to snap, I tell her to take her pick and go do it.

    I hate mowing

Mowing never used to bother me, but for some reason I have been avoiding it as much as possible this summer. My wife has been on me about it and I still don't care to get it done. I'll probably have to cave in and do something about it this weekend.

How have you handled eating issues?

We pretty much take the same approach here, but we don't offer other choices. You eat what you're given and if you don't like it, there's always another meal around the corner.

    Oyster bar!

Yesterday was my birthday and my wife took me to a really nice oyster bar to celebrate. I love oysters and this place was so cool! They had about eight different kinds and I tried them all. It was delicious! When I got done with the oysters, I ordered a 20 ounce rib eye steak. I'm still full. :D...

    Anniversary Plans

My wife always tells me that whatever we do is great as long as I make all the plans. She loves it when I arrange the sitter and make reservations. I think she goes through so much decision making all day, everyday that she likes to have a special evening when she doesn't have to be in charge.

Four year old coaching me on reading

I'd be more than happy to let her read to me, but she isn't reading yet. That's one of the reasons I thought it was so funny. At this point, she can identify the alphabet and she can write about five or six of the letters herself, but she hasn't read any words on her own yet.

    Hyatt Place Pittsburgh North Shore

I actually have to go to Pittsburgh in September and I was looking at this hotel. Unfortunately, it isn't close enough to where my meetings are taking place. The reviews on it look pretty good, though, so hopefully you'll have a great time!

    When do you shop?

Most of the stores around here run their sales for one week at a time. The grocery stores, for example, run specials from Saturday to Saturday. I'll have to pay attention to some of the other stores to see if there are any mid-week sales.

    Late Talker?

My daughter didn't really start talking much until she was about two and a half. Like yours, she would say the occasional word, but that was it. Somewhere between two and a half and three, everything changed and now we never have a quiet moment.

Four year old coaching me on reading

I was reading a bedtime story to my four year old the other night and I stumbled over some of the words. Let's face it, some of these kids books are tongue twisters! When I finished the story, she said to me, "Daddy, was that hard for you? I can help you next time if you just ask." She's four...

    Last year of my 30s

My birthday is right around the corner and this upcoming year will be the last in my 30s. When you turned 39, did you dwell on 40? Did you feel like there was something big looming in the distance? I know it's only a number and I don't feel like I'm even 39, so that should be a good thing...

    Renovated our Bathroom

It's such a good feeling when you renovate a room and it looks fresh and new! I painted the entire interior of our house in the spring and it's just so nice to see clean walls with a fresh color.

    Troubled by daughter's relationship

It sounds like you're doing all you can. Keep on giving her positive examples and hopefully she'll get sick of the loser soon enough. I dread going through this with my daughter.
