    Using Scare Tactics

I use them all the time. After reading this I am starting to feel really bad about it. Maybe I should rethink it and learn some new methods for getting them to do what I want them to do.

    Netflix was down

I noticed it but I thought the selection they offered was pretty decent so I was happy to just watch one of those. Still, I think I might cancel Netflix all together.

    What age for Apple skins?

I would agree with Payton, my kids were under 2 when we stopped peeling the skins off. The skins are the healthiest part of the apple.

    Camping for Halloween

Does anyone here go camping for Halloween? We haven't done it yet but a friend of mine has reservations for two spots at our local camp ground. Do you think it will be too cold to do it?

    Taking belongings between houses

I think children should be able to do the same thing. I think it is important for parents to keep things in perspective about that too. If something gets lost at the other parents house, it would not be good to get upset and start a row over it.

    Kids suggesting the divorce ?

Nope, I can't say that I had. I would be floored if my child said something like that. Of course if it is bad enough that the kid suggests it, then it is something to think about. It could be a relief that their daughter suggested it, they don't have to worry about her reaction.

    Did you have any idea...

We were over prepared for our first child as well. Now we are lucky to stay on par. We only just finished winter cloths shopping. Of course the next day it gets back in the 70s and 80s, so maybe we were ahead of schedule after all.

    Pica (craving during pregnancy)

There is no proven reason as to why this happens. Like Ben said, sometimes a pregnant woman will have pica, or crave non-food items when they have a nutritional deficiency. My wife craved toothpaste. Our doctor seemed to think it was due to a hormone imbalance.

    Patio death

It could be anything. Cats and squirrels love to run up screens and have sharp claws that can tear the screen. Rats and grass hoppers also cause this, but the tears are too big to be one of them.

    If a tree falls...

Now I am starting to worry. We have a sick tree that we never got around to taking down. We decided to put it off until next year. I hope it can make it through the winter.

Make up and skin care in the budget

Maybe your wife could have a chat with my wife. I do not dare tell you what we have in the budget for her personal care items. I don't ask what all that money is even for and sometimes I wonder if we are budgeting too much. Does anyone want to divulge what their wife spends on hair, skin and...

City Water Department, I hate you!

My wife was in a tizzy this morning because no one could have showers. Why? Because the city turned our water off sometime early this morning. She was unhappy, and even more so when I logged in to our bank and showed her it had been paid! She made the call and was not happy. Seriously, our city...

    Reading for kids

I used to do voices and really try to add expression. Lately I have noticed that I have become a bland reader. I am trying to get back to the way that I used to read.

Can your kids 'catch' your stress?

I agree, our stress and anxiety are easily picked up by our kids. I am trying to spend less time worrying and more time enjoying my kids, so they will enjoy me more. Not doing a great job at it, but at least I am trying.

    cut family ties

Cutting family ties is a big decision. At the same time there are times when people make choices that harm everyone around them. I have had to sever family ties, for a little while, for things that went way across the line.

    Project getting bigger and bigger!

Don't feel bad. That happens to me all the time. I was replacing a pane in a window last week and when I took the molding off to get the window out I found wood damage. The window is now double-paned but I am still trying to repair the damaged frame. I have the storm glass in and some plastic...

    Whom do you kids idolize?

Homer! I love Homer Simpson, to me he is more like a guide showing me what NOT to do, but still funny and still loves his kids! It's great that your kids idolize Jesus. That will be very good for them as they get older.

How many hours do you spend on cleaning?

Something must be wrong in my house. I timed myself to find out how much time I spend cleaning. It is about an hour a floor 5 or 6 days a week. That is three hours a day. Does that sound like too much?

I don't understand this new Facebook stuff. Everyone is talking about how it changed but I can't seem to see it. What is new that I am missing?
