Halloween celebrations and parties in the schools

I recently heard on the news that there are many schools across the nation that have "banned" Halloween celebrations and parties in the schools. The news report didn't state why. I have mixed feelings about it. What do you think?

Someone most likely complained. Everything is offensive anymore to someone.

If I were a teacher, I think I would dread Halloween. Just the kids bouncing off the walls from all the sugar would make me crazy. Dealing with the one or two kids who don't have costumes would be hard, too.

With the weather going as it has lately its much better than having kids wander around neighborhoods in the freezing cold. I kid you not we walked *forever* and all the kids had long winter coats on. Would flash the costume at the door and then bundle back up, it was freezing!!
