How do antibiotics work?

I have bronchitis, which is discouraging considering it isn't even October yet! It got me wondering how antibiotics work. Does anyone know any medical/scientific, information about it?

Antibiotics are essentially poison. The poison is not harmful to the cells of our bodies, but it does attack bacteria. Not only bad bacteria, but good bacteria. Antibiotics are all different. Some kinds of poison will fight some bacteria and not others.
