A friend of mine is having a battle with her youngest for insubordination both in the house and the classroom. It has never happened before either. Is it the start of something bad or just a "testing the waters" type of thing?
I wonder if anything has changed lately, I know my nephew had a similar issue when he started to hang out with a new friend. The friend had no serious strict parenting in his life and he was just a "wild child".
All human beings, including kids, have a need to express themselves and to be who they are. I think the key is to channel that energy positively. Maybe this kid is a budding leader with leadership traits that should be groomed and encouraged.
