As my kids get older they want to cook and cook more. I think that is great, but they don't always want to clean up after they have cooked. How can I get them to do this?
Tell them they have to - it's part of the deal. Start a dishpan full of hot soapy water and have them wash as they go. That is what my wife does anyway. It's great that they want to cook though.
You're not going to get them to *want* to clean up, but that's part of cooking isn't it? If you teach them how to clean as they go, they might not be so overwhelmed at the end.
Cleaning is a part of cooking. Tell your kids that they cannot cook if they don't know how to clean up after they cook. You also tell them that cleanliness is a priority in cooking because we might get sick if we use utensils that are not clean.
