Making the Most of Time

I'm divorced and my three kids stay with me every other week. The house feels so empty when they aren't here, and when they are, they're so busy with their lives that I'm never sure how much time I should require of them for "family time." I have 14- and 12-year old girls, and a 10-year old boy. I take them someplace for a full day each weekend, but I feel they'd rather be with friends. Any suggestions to get them more interested in "dad time"?

Sadly, they are in that stage of life when peers are more important than family. Plan some fun time with them and include one or two friends to come along. That would make their dad time better.

Thanks, forgotten, I appreciate the suggestion. I just hope I can keep the "crowd" under control if I allow each of them to bring a friend somewhere. Sometimes they are a handful on their own!
