It seems strange to some people, but my ex wife and her partner regularly take me with them when they go on excursions. Last week he drove and she sat next to him, whilst my son, his son and myself sat in the back seat. We felt like one big happy family!
I have heard of others but as long as it works for the entire family then to me it is not strange at all. People need to get with the times and even though it may not be the "traditional" family setup, if it works, don't fix it!
