Swimming For Joints?

A friend recommended swimming to me for injured tendons? He said that it will relieve some of the pain in time and help recovery. How true is this?

Very true! My dad is swimming and walking in the water. His surgeon told him to do this. Any kind of exercise in the water is better than outside the water (when your body is injured). I am not sure the real reason but it seems to be working for my dad.

It is a lot easier on the joints because gravity isn't as much of an issue. It's so much easier to move around. They even have those special therapy pools that have extra warm water.

Yes and it is a great form of exercise even if you have great joints. I love nothing more than a good swim! Even when I was younger and had no major issues swimming was the one thing I enjoyed more than anything else.

But I don't get how it will help with recovery. I understand that it's easier for the joints to move in water but does it really help? Some say you need to rest while others say to swim.
