Teen-aged daughter

How do you cope single-handedly with a teen-aged daughter? It seems to be a handfull and too much for one of my friends. They are constantly at odds.

I'm starting to go through the same thing with my 12-year old daughter. I think the best you can do is not to fight it, try and keep the peace, and let them grow and mature out of that stage. It's actually normal for a teenager to be like this. Part of growing up.

You are right, its part of growing up. All teenagers are tough! You just have to be stern with them but also let her know that you would do anything for her. It is your job to keep her safe and be her dad.

It can be hard and all you can really do is remind them that they are not the boss. Show them where the line stands and when they cross it, make sure they know it. Time outs, as well as taking away things they like work best.
