Too reckless?

I was wondering if the high rate of divorce is due to people being more reckless or due to the changes how society views them? What got me wondering is that a buddy of mine is getting a divorce, however it was to be expected since he dated his wife for six months before they got married, now after three years and a one year old they decided to call it quits.

There is nothing wrong with getting married after six months, you just need to be sure that it's more than passion and you have enough in common with somebody that you can spend the rest of your life with them, it's not fair to the kid, but it would be worse for them to stay together because of the child and raise him in a bad environment.

People tend to be more self absorbed these days, one of the unfortunate side effects of the liberties that each of us take for granted. Children, need a stable environment to grow up in, take this away and you are pretty much guaranteed an adult with issues.
