Venison in chili?

We pulled out some chili we made last year with venison and had it for supper. It was so good on the cold, rainy night we were having. Does anyone here have any secrets to making great venison chili?

Not really venison related, but I find my best tasting chili is when I use a cast iron dutch oven and cook it over a fire or charcoal.
