Today, there are hair dyes, skin bronzer, and “shaper” underwear made for men; all these things and more are used to make a guy look young and fit. If you have Hollywood type money to buy it, you just might pull it off. Buy the stuff they advertise on TV, and your “enhancements” could be obvious from a mile away.
The best enhancement of all is good health. The healthy guy radiates vitality and good humor. When you take care of yourself, it shows. So, before you spend your money on fake enhancements, try these healthy tips and see if you don’t feel and look healthier.
Vitality doesn’t have much to do with how much you can bench press. Vitality has more to do with energy; do you have the stamina to run around with the kids in the morning, play a game of football or baseball in the afternoon, and then take your sweetie dancing at night? Put down energy shots and espresso, and try the natural way to gain vitality. It’s really quite simple; it comes down to sleeping, eating, and drinking.
It may sound silly to ask: do you get enough sleep? Hardly anybody does, but the truly healthy guy knows the benefit of a good night’s sleep. Some folks catch up with a cat nap or two, but it all adds up to being rested. The rested guy doesn’t have red, puffy, baggy eyes. He isn’t grumpy and doesn’t have a short fuse. He allows his body sleep time to repair itself, so he isn’t plagued with a lot of aches and pains. He looks relaxed and rested.
As to eating, a really healthy guy’s body is fed fresh, nutritious food, and not a lot of junk. He eats lots of fruit and veggies. Staying away from fast food and food that is too starchy, sugary, or processed is the key. A cookie here and there is fine, but a bag while you’re watching the game isn’t doing you any favors. Eat fiber, too. Constipated guys, and you know who you are, aren’t healthy looking or very happy.
Let’s talk about drinking. We’re not just talking about beer or alcohol consumption, but you don’t need a lecture about that; just have a look at guys who chug all the time or regularly prop up bar stools. It’s true, though, that a glass of wine at dinner helps your digestion and is good for the heart. The most important thing to drink is water! Eight glasses a day keeps your hair happy, your skin looking good, and your insides running well.
By the way, and you probably don’t want to hear it, but coffee, anything else with caffeine, and alcohol is going to dehydrate you. It’s also going to make your nerves jangly, and that doesn’t make for a happy guy.
It’s not necessary to run for miles, but the healthy guy does some kind of exercise each week that raises his blood pressure and heart rate. These days we’re hearing a lot about the benefits of cardio. A healthy guy can generally take a brisk walk and talk at the same time without huffing and puffing.
The healthy guy also takes care of the insides where he keeps his heart and soul. Don’t be so hard on yourself, and the world won’t seem so hard. Treat people the way you want to be treated. You know what feeds your soul, so do it regularly. A guy at peace with himself shows on the outside.
So, in the end, it all is quite simple. He feels good and he makes others feel good as well. He moderates the stuff that isn’t so good for him, and he regularly does the stuff that is good for him. The signs of a healthy guy are quite obvious: they are in his body, mind and spirit.
