    amazing weather

Spring cleaning has already started around our house. Since the weather was so nice, we spent part of Sunday afternoon outside playing with the dogs and picking up stuff in the yard. It started raining later in the evening, although it was only the misty kind.

    Staying at home boredom

Between working at home and all of our activities, I'm never even close to being bored. I guess I'm one of those people who always tries to stay busy, too. My problem is at the other end of the spectrum. I feel like there is never enough time to do everything that I need and want to do.

    Awake

NBC's website shows that it's on Thursday at 9:00 Eastern time. It looks like the series' debut was March 1, so they've shown two episodes so far. The site says that you can watch full episodes online. I wish my computer could handle that much video, but I'll have to wait for the reruns to catch...

Stay At Home Dads With Web Businesses

Stay-at-home moms turned work-at-home moms have been a big part of online businesses for years. Do you think it's our turn now? I think that many fathers have been trying to carve out money-making niches for themselves in the online world, but they just don't get the attention that mothers do...

    Celebrity babies

It's hard to imagine how a child can grow up normally with a name like Rumor, Apple, or Blanket. I get the impression that some celebrities want their child to be different. They put them in the spotlight even before they're born. But I agree that some celebrities make a real effort to provide a...

    Bilinguilism

I've done it a little using what I learned in third grade. It's weird because I had Spanish in high school, and yet I can remember more from my classes in elementary school. That gives validity to the claims that children can learn other languages more easily when they're younger.

    Oh no no cable!

I have to use the internet for work when I'm at home. We also use it for banking, paying bills, and shopping. We stay so busy, and it really helps to be able to log in and be done in a few minutes. I think it's just a fact of modern society that the internet is like any other utility.

    Family business

Everything needs to be spelled out so that each person knows what to expect. Even though it's family, it's also still a business. I think that's where some people have difficulties. One person might let things slide and expect someone else to pick up the slack just because they're family. That's...

    Oh no no cable!

We really count on the internet for a lot of things. The absence of cable, on the other hand, might be a blessing in disguise. I remember the last time our cable went out. We really didn't miss it although it was only for one evening.

Over-reactive parenting linked to negative emotions and problem behavior in toddlers

I've read several articles involving the whole nature versus nurture debate. My take on it is that you can't do anything about genetics. That makes it even more important to work on what you can control. Children are easily influenced, and they also tend to emulate so much of what they hear and see.

I saw the space station tonight

I'm sure that was a thrilling experience. It really is amazing when you think of what we are able to do in space. The technology is mind-boggling in a very exciting way.

    Not a lot of help

It's too bad that there is still a bias toward fathers who stay at home. Women are considered good mothers for staying at home with their children. Fathers should get the same respect. Maybe we'll move out of the Stone Age one of these days. One can always hope.

Standing so close to the television

It helps to focus your eyes at something else every few minutes if you're watching TV or using the computer. The problem is that we become engrossed in what we're doing, so we forget. If your child is standing right in front of the TV, it might mean that he needs glasses. That's just a thought...

    Natural Consequences

I think it's a great way to parent. Obviously, you can't do it with every situation where their safety or health would be at risk. Otherwise, I think it's an excellent way to teach them personal responsibility. When parents are too protective or micromanage everything, it stunts a child's...

Gas prices and staying at home

I'm wondering if these crazy gas prices are going to give more fathers a reason to be stay at home dads. Working from home makes a lot more sense than spending a fortune on long commutes. It must be costing some people half of their paycheck just to pay for gas and car payments.
