Would you take your 11-year old to....

She thinks that it Wrestling is too violent and that it is going to teach him bad things. I don't quite see it the same way. I hope I can talk her in to it because I think it would be a really good bonding experience.

    Light up Blue

For anyone who doesn't know. April 2nd is World Autism Awareness day. Make sure to get to Home Depot to get your blue light bulb while you can. To show support you put the blue light in your porch lamp.

    Never Trampolining Again

After learning of Job Chamberlian's freak trampoline accident I am never trampolining with my kids again. Chamberlain is a pitcher for the Yankees for anyone who doesn't know. He was jumping on a trampoline with his 5 year old and broke his ankle! DOh!

Would you take your 11-year old to....

    RElationship with your dad

My bio dad left when I was five. I have a step dad, but relations were not good at all. I think that my fractured relationship with my father is part of the reason I am having such a tough time being a step-dad. I hope I can learn to do a thousand times better than either of my dads.

    How much time is enough.....

Wow, I admire you. I am lucky to make 5 hours a week for the kids. I thought I was doing pretty good, but now I see that I need to step it up. I would love to hear how much time other dads are spending with their kids.

    Attending kids activities

My step-son won chess champion this weekend. The problem is that when I congratulated he acted as if he didn't want me to congratulate him. My partner says it is because I didn't go to the tournament. But I had important things to catch up on around the house and errands to run for my business...

Any fathers who didn't have a father of their own?

I am a step dad who doesn't know his biological father. He would be in his 80s if he is still alive, so it is probably to late to do anything about it. I had a step dad for my later years, but he was the father of my half-brother and he never really cared for me.

    Peyton??

I think Tebow at the Jets is going to cause a lot of drama and a few major issues. When I saw that he was going to the Jets I was like, "What were they thinking!"

    ADHD child and behavior

Our son has high functioning autism. It isn't ADHD, but I do understand how frustrating it is to have to repeat yourself over and over and still not modify the behaviors. Hang in there, I hear it gets better eventually.

    "Hitting" Toddler

I am with Timothy, my partner says that her oldest was like that as a toddler, and now he is having all kinds of problems and needs to start therapy. I am going to go check some books out from the library about behavior. You might want to do the same.

How do I handle this situation?

His mother is usually the one who sits down and talks to him about it. I usually try to reinforce what she said after she's done talking to him. His mother called a counselor today. He has an appointment on April 5th. When she told our son he was happy about it. I really hope this helps.

    Dad for the first time!

Thanks for the words of advice. There are days where the noise, mess and busyness overwhelm me. At first I thought it would all go away as we grew closer together. But it is still noisy, messy and busy! I guess I just need to accept that.

    Power of the Prayer?

Biologically the power of prayer makes sense. Praying activates certain regions of the brain, there is still a lot of research to be done, but there is some evidence that perceptions have a direct effect on health and happiness.

    Mild Fever?

Perhaps you have mono? When I had mono, many moons ago I had very similar symptoms. I was tired all the time and I would occasionally run low-grade fevers. I think there is a test that they can run to see if it is mono.
