    Puzzling and Annoying Sleep Habit

You probably can't set a strict schedule, but if you are sure that your baby girl is not hurt or sick you should let her cry a little and learn that you aren't going to jump every time she whimpers. It's hard to do, but you won't get any rest unless you do it. I had a similar problem with my...

I would say that you need to get to the bottom of it before it becomes a permanent habit. She should know that negative people are not popular people. I have a sister who is negative about everything and no one wants to be around her, including her children. Try to get an understanding of where...

How to handle a drug situation?

You really do need to keep the lines of communication open with your daughter and help her to understand the seriousness of drug usage. Let her know how much you love her and don't want to see her get hurt by getting involved in something worse than she is already in.

    Having Another Girl

I always wanted a boy and a girl, in that order. My wife is more open minded about it and just wants healthy kids. We have three sons, but still wish we had at least one girl. There is still hope that we will have one, or maybe two. Don't get me wrong, boys are great and we have a lot of fun...

Christian, I think you are taking the right approach with your children. I read one time that marriage is not a 60 percent / 50 percent arrangement but a 100 percent / 100 percent commitment. To me, that says that each person needs to give up and give in to keep their marriage on course.

    She's a New Driver

I also paid the extra insurance when I first started driving, and put gas in the family car after I used it. I think it's a real good idea and teaches responsibilities that are needed for the future. I've noticed that girls are more adventurous when driving, like speeding and following too close.

    Man, is it cold!

This is my favorite time of year. The weather is usually mild, not too hot or too cold. The fall colors are beautiful and it's great to be able to get to enjoy the great outdoors. However, it's only going to be a few more weeks and the weather will change. It will be cold and uncomfortable any...

    Single Son wants to adopt

My unmarried 28 year old son learned about a 6 month old toddler who has an unknown father and her mother has abandoned her. He said he feels sorry for her and wants to adopt her. I have talked to him about the responsibilities, his inexperience, etc. He has a good full-time job which means his...

    Looking for the truth

My wife and I ran a pretty tight ship for our boys, but I wouldn't say we were hard on them. They got to travel to other countries and do things that a lot of other children their age didn't get to do. This son has been telling stories since he was a youngster. We tried to get him to be truthful...

    Keeping a Budget

Yes, DeputyDad, it's his own income, and he is not very thrifty or conscientious about his spending. That's why I thought it would be a good idea to encourage him to maintain a budget. As you know, when things really get serious, a budget is required.

    Looking for the truth

I have a 20 year old son who tells me what he thinks I want to hear instead of the truth. I have corrected him on it on many occasions, but he still continues to lie to me. I think he is afraid of what I may say about his decisions and actions and doesn't want to hear it. What should I do to get...

My son's choice of girl friend

All of you have given me some good ideas and advice. I did not think about the issue of starting a relationship with a co-worker. It is a valid point and one which I will pursue with my son a little bit. I also think that since he has been raised under my thinking and guidance, and since he is...

    Any advice

I think you are in good shape. Just go slowly at first, keep the love flowing and it will work out fine. Try to become the best boyfriend those girls will ever have.

Giving guidance (Correction) to grown sons

My sons are grown and on their own now. Sometimes they don't seem to give their Mom the respect and honor they should. I've tried to speak gently with them about it, but it doesn't seem to sink in. Should I jump down their throat or just let it go. I get rally upset when they don't treat her right.

    Thinking About It

If he is asking you for your advice to him, then I would tell him to stick with his wife, and forget the other woman. I would guess that he hasn't really given this the full consideration it requires.

Has divorce turned into an epidemic?

There are a lot of things to understand and consider when two people get married, yet most people, myself included, don't know all that there is to it. First, you are probably opposites, that's why you were attracted to each other. Then you need to learn each other's strengths and weaknesses and...

    Keeping a Budget

Has anyone tried to teach their teenage boy(s) to keep a budget? I've tried to teach them the budget process I use, and they seem to understand the value of it but they don't seem to be interested enough to actually practice it.

    Forget About The Boys

Remember when you were a boy and the girls were chasing you? You have to keep your girls on a short leash. The best advice I can give you is try to be the best boyfriend she knows and tell her that any other guys will have to get by you before she can chase them.

    Kind of sad

Make the most of the time when they are growing. Don't let this time slip by without making special memories, and keeping a diary because you won't be able to capture it again and it goes oh so fast.

Love spending time with my kids!

My Dad died when I was 10 so I don't remember much about the time we spent together. I think I really missed out on having him around for my teen years. After my children were born I tried to spend quality time with each of them and all of them together. I think it makes a lot of difference when...
