Your kids are the best in the world.

My brothers first child was just born and his wife was telling me how great my nice is, she said "I know everybody thinks their kids are great, but I just know my daughter really is great.", I couldn't help but crack a smile. I guess it's in our nature to think our kids are the best in the...

Do you still buy dvd or blu-ray discs?

When I was growing up, it always seemed like I was collecting something. When I got older this obsession seemed to pass to movie and tv-show discs, nowadays I only buy a dvd or blu-ray disc if it's a cult movie or something so obscure there's no chance I'll find it on Netflix.

    Bad memory.

I've been noticing an unnerving development, my memory seems to be failing me. This is unsettling because I'm in my 40's. Am I the only one?

    Family pet.

I love dogs and quite recently we've acquired one under the pretense that it would be a good way to teach our youngest responsibility. In all honesty it did. Has it turned out the same way in your family, or were you stuck with the responsibility?

Do girls cling to their dads.

I have two sons and I never really noticed them acting any different with me or their mother. But our friends swear that girls prefer the company of their father and boys of their mothers.

Do you participate in sporting activities with your kids?

I see a lot of parents being contempt with going to their children's games, I think that's not enough. I always try to throw the ball around, go hiking or cycling with my kids, whenever I have the time. It's one of the best ways to bond in my opinion.

Has divorce turned into an epidemic?

We were having a BBQ with some friends yesterday, when they decided to tell us that they are getting a divorce. If this continues, we'll have more single friends than married ones.

    Saying no to overweight kids.

Our kids have never been overweight, I think it's due in large part to the fact that since they were kids I don't think they stayed still unless they necessarily had to. However we are seeing more and more obese children and I have to wonder how many of them are like that because their parents...

How do you react when you are angry?

My youngest managed to hit a nerve on a wrong day, so I might have cranked the volume up a bit too much on my voice box. How do you react when you just can't take it anymore?

    Kids movies are actually enjoyable.

My wife and I were out enjoying date night couple of weeks ago and we decided to see a movie. We settled on The Croods, strangely enough it was one the best movie going experiences I had in a while. It was fun to take a break from all the nihilistic, self obsessed movies that usually play at...

Do you have the crib in the nursery or your bedroom?

My brother is expecting his first in march and he decided to put the crib in the nursery. I remember that we kept the crib in our bedroom for the first 6 months, it made our lives a whole lot simpler.

My youngest brought home a dog.

I'm not thrilled to say the least, but what can you do against two pairs of puppy eyes. After a half an hour of discussions and promises I let him keep it. I warned him if I end up taking care of it, he can say goodbye to his allowance for a whole year. Do you think this will teach him some...

    Eating supper together.

Until I started my own family I've never really realized how important it is to share a meal. It has kept up good communication with our children, even though they are in their rebellious phase. How often does your family share a meal together?

Not trusting your children will end up making them incompetent adults.

I don't mean to offend anybody, but I think children today are way too sheltered. I was over at a friends house and his 12 year old walks in asking his dad to make him a sandwich. Weird, but he might have had a valid reason. Later I shift the conversation in this direction and I ask him what...

Air popped or microwaved pop corn?

We started using an air popper a few years ago and haven't looked back since. It doesn't give of radiation like the microwave and it has way less calories, plus I can season it anyway I like.

    Dog as jogging partner.

I'm not decided yet but I was thinking about getting a dog as a jogging partner. I'd prefer a medium sized one that is intelligent enough to run alongside me without me needing to hold the leash and is active enough to run about two miles a day, but not so active that it would destroy the house...

    Running a marathon.

I'm currently no where near that level, but I always figured to set my goals high so there is always room for improvement. Do you have a goal when you exercise, or do you just do it like a routine?

    The touch or patience?

Do you think some people have the touch with kids or the patience? My kids were quick learners, so I can't take the credit for most of what they accomplished, but still it seems like some dad's are better than others with kids.

Do you have any time for yourself?

When our kids were younger we barely had time for ourselves and there were two of us on the job. I think that when you are single and taking care of a child your social life pretty much goes the way of the dinosaurs, am I wrong?

    Holding it in.

My wife always accuses me of holding my emotions in and that I should let them out not keep them bottled up. What does she except me to do? Have a good cry? Then go and have a spa day?
