    Gunshot wounds

Ironically last night's episode did show Mac in the hospital and showed that he had memory problems. I think a lot of times when parents work it's the idiots some of these kids run around with that have the most influence.

    Do your kids take vitamins?

We give the kids vitamins. I just wish they were regular pills instead of yummy, tasty candy-like pills. After a certain age they should learn to swallow regular pills for their own good. Pills that look like candy scare me since so many prescriptions nowadays come in so many vibrant colors.

    Bad decisions

I know my wife offers opinions on everything and it's gotten to the point where everyone ignores her. I just keep my mouth shut and allow people to live their own lives. I certainly don't want anyone butting into mine.

    Traffic oh my!

Just pulling out into the street here can take 5 minutes. I started leaving 15 minutes earlier and leaving the office 30 minutes later just to get home at the same time. Might as well score brownie points instead of sit in traffic.

Do you help with the holiday decorations?

My official job is Christmas lights--indoor and out. My wife keeps threatening to buy Halloween lights but I've told her she'd have to put them up herself!

    Cleaning your plate

We had to finish everything on our plates but that's not feasible to tell the kids until they're around 8 I think. Before that it has to be all vegetables at the very least.

    Gunshot wounds

I watched CSI NY the other night. At the beginning Mac was fighting for his life after being shot and by the end of the hour he was back to work. Do you think the younger generation finds it so easy to shoot and/or carry guns because they really have no realistic idea of how bad getting shot and...

Court: Sperm Donor Doesn't Owe Child Support

I wonder if the welfare department had anything to do with it. I know they make you file for child support payments if you want to collect welfare for your children but I'm not sure what they do in the case of sperm banks.

    Nap is great for health

I'd love to have time to take naps. I try to have one on the weekends but there's usually too much to do. Once in a while I can talk my wife into covering for me while I hide and sleep.

    Santa Claus

I always dreaded my kids coming in contact with another child who was taught that there was no Santa Claus. Explaining that the Jewish faith didn't have a Santa Claus was easy. I can't imagine raising kids without the fun of playing Santa myself.

    Girl

I'm glad I have no girls. Before we knew each of the kids' sexes we were having a hard time coming up with girls' names. I think it's because there's so much variation year to year.

    First day of Fall

I can't believe the number of pumpkins that are on sale already. Buying and carving them now will have them rotted by Halloween but try explaining that to kids!

    a new one

Congratulations! Three is a good amount (unless you want more) and having them all so close together is going to be great for them growing up.

    Bath Time

Do you wash your kids before bath playtime or after? My wife and I had a running argument which is moot now that they're taking showers but I wanted to get everyone's opinion. I always did it at the beginning to get it over with and she wanted to do it at the end so they weren't sitting in...

    Considering Preschool

Nowadays it seems like they have to go to preschool. It's actually turned into more of a pre-K then just a socializing experience. If your kids don't go then they'll be way behind the learning curve when they start kindergarten.

    Bedtime stories

We started with Dr. Seuss books and Goodnight Moon at around age 2. Mine are all over 8 so they really don't want the stories anymore--they want 'quality' videogame time before bed.

    What was she thinking?

Our local high school was locked down today because a student reported getting attacked in the bathroom. Turns out it was a..prank? I'm thinking she either needs serious help or a large fine.

A glass of warm milk for sound sleep

I've never tried warm milk without sugar. It's the tryptophan that puts you to sleep. I wonder if hot chocolate would work or if the caffeine in the chocolate would counterract the tryptophan?

    When is spanking necessary?

I think the most important thing is consistency and this is where most parents fail. I don't think there's really any need for spanking past the 'don't walk in the street' stage at around 3. Of course the threat is very good!

    First camping trip

My wife's the same way. I'm trying to get the boys interested in it before she freaks them out. We've done the backyard thing and I'm hoping to get them into Boy Scouts soon.
