    Time Shares

I know, I know, it's hard to even say the word, but my family loves Disney and they are clamoring for us to buy into the time share that Disney has. It is a very tempting idea and I have actually been thinking about it. Does anyone here have any experience with it?

    $3,000 ER Visit?!

The cost of anything medical is outrageous. If the Canadians can sell medicine of some sorts for a few cents per pill, then we should be able to too. Everything is out of control and it's not going to get any better as far as I can see.

Has divorce turned into an epidemic?

People don't think before they rush into things. Then too, people change. I'm divorced and remarried and I have to say I'm a different person than I was when I got married to my first wife. Most of my friends have been married at least one time before they are married to their present spouse.

    Girl

It's a big responsibility to pick a baby's name. That will be one thing you give them that will be with them for life. Taking that into consideration, we have discussed long and sometimes loudly, the possibilities for both genders.

    Helping with laundry

I love to cook and she hates to cook. I tend to cook a lot of our meals on a daily basis for her. I have it easy though, she does most of the rest of the household chores and I do all of the outside chores. I try to help out when I can though.

    Nephew Got A Tattoo

I change my mind too much to commit to one thing. I can't see living with one picture or saying for 50 to 70 years. I don't like the idea of permanency that a tatoo represents.

    Dieting

I have had it with society today. My seven year old girl decided she was "fat" (she's not) and has decided to start dieting. I have no idea why this came up, but it's not going to happen. The expectations forced on kids today are so harsh.

    Forcing teens to save

We have done the same for years. We make sure our kids save a portion of their money in a savings account BEFORE they spend any of the rest. I can only hope they continue the habit as they get older.

    Where are the parents?

So many kids go missing these days that we never let our kids out of our sight. I can't imagine letting them go somewhere without one of us with them. I can't stand seeing parents who don't seem to care.

    Weird Kid

We were at the park yesterday and a kid came up to us asking if we had seen a local coach. We hadn't and told him so, but he kept hanging around. I finally asked if his mother or father were with him and reassured him that the coach would probably be there soon. It was all I could do to get the...

    Great Gatsby

I've never even seen the first movie yet. It just didn't seem like anything I would be interested in. However, when they remake a movie, they will sometimes be a lot better than the older version but not true to the story line of the book. We'll have to watch and see.

    Itching to plant

I have a feeling we still have a couple of frosts for Mr. Winter to get out of his system. We have had the field ploughed, but we're letting it rest for a bit to get rid of a lot of the weed seeds.

    Vacation Ideas

That's a good idea, older. I love the cabins at our local state park and we have rented them before. It was a sort of family reunion when several families rented three of the cabins. We had two families in each cabin so we all had a blast!

    Saying no to overweight kids.

You are right, the medically obese are in the minority. It's just hard to see them that way and knowing that the majority are that way because of inactivity and diet. We have worked hard to show our kids the right way, but they do look at me and think it's not important because they love me. I...

    Friend's Girlfriend Had Her Baby

They are super thrilled, but it's hard for them to leave him there in the hospital. I know the mother is having a very hard time with it but I have been telling them both they will have him for the rest of their lives. I know it must be hard though.

    Vacation Ideas

I would find a state park somewhere and go camping. It would be a great time! Take the kids bicycles, games and stuff like that and they would have a blast. Any time you can get kids into the open air is a great opportunity to teach them they can have fun without video games.

    Saying no to overweight kids.

Not all overweight children are overweight because of excess. That's like saying all boys are macho or all girls are feminine. It just isn't so. There are as many reasons as there are stars in the sky. I was always overweight because I have kidney disease and have had since I was born. The...

    Swimming in lakes

If you worry about what will happen in this life, you will never have enjoyment. If you start thinking of it, there is something that can go wrong with every aspect of anything you do. We have a local lake we swim in all of the time and we have always enjoyed doing so.

    Teaching About Tragedy

My kids have been devastated about the recent tragedies in Boston and in Texas. I try to shield my kids as best I can from the worst of the stuff that happens, but they are going to see some of it in spite of my best efforts. My wife and I try our best to sit down with them and let them talk...

    kid little jobs

BigPapa-My seven year old daughter does dishwasher duty too. She's a good helper in the kitchen and loves to help us cook by doing what she is allowed to do. We haven't allowed her to do knife jobs yet, but she's great with a vegetable peeler. :D
