Do you ever get this "You are nicer to her than me" from a step child. It breaks my heart. I try to be fair to both kids and I'm sure I am. My oldest (I'm a step-dad) plays this line every once in a while. I used to fall for it, I don't anymore.
It's good that you don't fall for it. Kids can be very manipulative, but there also might be some hidden feelings or doubts in the kid's mind when they say things like that. How do you know if it's manipulation or possibly some inner doubts or feelings?
