Allowance For Kids

Do you give your kids an allowance? Now there are certain things that are just part of being a member of the family so they don't get paid for everything. The allowance is set up that there are certain chores they have to do to get it, like making their bed and feeding the dog. But they can also earn some extra money if they want to for doing extras.

I do give my kids an allowance, but it's not so much for things like cleaning up the house. It is more so for helping me do yard work or helping me fix things. I try to teach them that work pays off. Most of the time my son gives it back so that I can buy him hot wheels and my daughter is still to young, the allowance goes into her college fund.

Only my oldest child has an allowance. She's already in High School, so aside from her packed lunch, we give her money for fare (she couldn't drive yet and her school doesn't have a school bus) and for school projects.
