I'm trying to figure what kind of grill to buy but not sure what's best. I don't even know if I want charcoal or gas. Suggestions anyone?

What are you looking to do with it? My personal preference is a charcoal grill.

Gas will heat up quicker, charcoal will take more time.
You can get the grill hotter using charcoal then you can gas.
Charcoal to me gives the food a better flavor, although not all foods will have a taste difference. Steaks I can tell, hamburgers not so much.
Gas grill will be more expensive to purchase, but some say it is cheaper in the long run because of fuel. But fuel costs are going up, and I make my own charcoal from the wood in the fire pit.
I think gas takes more upkeep too.
Charcoal you have ashed to deal with.

I hope this may answer some of your questions. I think it comes down to personal preference. I have the Char-Griller with side box. I can smoke the meat with it by putting the charcoal in the side box with the wood chips and the food in the main section. I can put charcoal in the main section and cooks lots of food. Or I can use the sidebox and cook a smaller amount of food.
