Hatred for a step-father.

I had that problem when I was a kid with my mothers husband. I didn't like him telling me what to do because he wasn't my real father so I rebelled. Looking back now, I think the hate I had was unwarranted. He didn't really treat me bad, I was just a kid and a fool. It's a whole lot different now that I'm older and I see how much he really cares for me. We have a great relationship today. I wish I could've known this stuff when I was a kid so I didn't go through all the problems I did.

Now that we are adults, we should understand that kids can be overly emotional or over reactive. They cannot grasp the bigger picture in front of them, so we have to be more patient in explaining it to them.
