Naming the baby after a god in mythology

A sister of mine is expecting her second baby and her husband planned to name the kid after a god (or goddess, depending on the sex) in Greek mythology. Do you think it's a good idea?

I don't think it's a bad idea. It never occurred to me to look towards Greek mythology for a name for my son, but I think these days anything goes.

It cannot be worse then other names I've seen lately. It is not my thing however.

I think that is a great idea. The names of the saints have become too common and the mythological names sounds awesome. Should we use the name Zeus or Odin too?

I agree, it's not a bad idea. Some gods and goddess (like Athena and Venus) are nice to name your baby after. But I wouldn't name my baby Nemesis.

I could see that as kind of being weird. :D

I see no issue with it personally but it would not really be my sort of thing either, though when we did name ours we ended up going over so many names it was crazy. We were happy to know the meanings behind the name. :)
