Wow! I just opened what our current new owning is and I am shocked that our small land costs so darn much. Are taxes like this all over the country? It seems like my taxes are for 3 homes here not just one.
I guess it just depends on where you live. I have a few acres in the country and my property taxes are about $1,200 a year. But I know someone in New Jersey who has 1/4 acre and pays $20,000 a year. That's just insane to me.
Prices are falling, but county seems to still do their maximum range. You can try and have a new appraisal, but it will cost you. $150-$300+ here. But you could possibly make that up in taxes and insurance.
I might just bite the bullet and pay for the appraisal, I think the county stuff is whats getting us and we really do not see anything updated with what the money should be spent on. I swear, someone its a damn scam.
