My sister is worried aout her husband who has just gone through a sleep study and been diagnosed with sleep apnea. The doctor is getting himset up with a CPAP machine and wants him to lose some weight.

With the CPAP, is there still a need to be concerned about the sleep apnea? Is it hard to sleep with the machine on? Anyone here have to use a CPAP?

I haven't used it myself, but a friend of mine is using it. In fact your story sounds familiar. It was his wife who bought the CPAP upon the recommendation of the doctor.

My big fat friend resisted it at first. In fact he resented it. But his wife's persuasive powers made him wear it for one night and, boy, he wouldn't sleep without it from then on.

He said his wife could now sleep well :)

But most importantly, he feels well-rested upon waking up in the morning.

That's exactly my experience. I snored for years and finally talked to my doctor about it and went through one of those studies. I didn't realize just how little good sleep I was getting until I used the CPAP. It makes such a huge difference.
