The look.

My wife laughs when our son starts to misbehave and I give him what she has termed as "the look". Usually, this look and a stern, "Hey!" will stop him in his tracks and cease whatever activity he is doing.

Do you have a look or some other gesture or phrase that stops your child from misbehaving?

Nothing yet as I am brand new to this Dad deal, can you tell when its almost midnight and I am awake, wide awake playing on the net. Its fun with the every few hours waking up and we are both beat. I have come to love naps though.

I have my voice that the kid knows to listen up. Sadly though, it gets the kid to give a look sometimes which gets the wife cracking up laughing. Not very helpful when you are trying to be serious. So far though she does listen when I use the voice.

I have a special NO with a special tone and a proper look and gesture which my children take seriously. To keep it effective, I try not to use the NO very often.
