Is it normal for a child in high school to have 3 hours of homework? She starts when she gets home at 4:00 and only stops for dinner before going back to homework. They should be coming home from school and relaxing or doing something other than school work.
Have you looked at what the homework is that the teacher is assigning? Some kids take longer doing homework, is your child struggling or just dragging her feet at it?
Technically, most of the time they say there should be an hour of homework for each class, at least around here they do that. Obviously, that would be too much if all six or eight classes gave homework each night.
I don't think 3 hours is out of the ordinary. I think it is too much though. How are kids supposed to do extra activities such as sports? It is a weekly struggle at my house.
This is something I have been complaining about for years. Kids get too much homework. I am sorry but one hour per class is too much. Kids need time to be kids.
