Wanting to be held all the time

I have an 11 month old that is going through a phase where she wants to be held all the time. It's making my wife and me crazy because we just don't have time to do nothing but hold her. And, also, we wanted her to be a little more independent than this. Does anyone have any suggestions to help us get through this without constantly battling with the baby?

Well, my wife and I just ignored her. We gave her toys to play with and went on about our business. When she would start crying we would just go to her and tell her "We love you, but daddy and mommy has things that we have to do." That seemed to help a lot. I think that she was having separation anxiety because whenever we left the room she would have a temper tantrom. This is just a normal phase, it will pass.
