The White House has agreed to respond to any petition on their website that garners 25,000 signatures. One petition was to build a Death Star for space exploration and job creation. Here is the White House response.
The UK government has also agreed to debate any online petition that gains 100,000 signatures, but they always find some way around it. It's just to keep the voters sweet.
