    Trying to enjoy the quiet.

I took a couple of days off from work this week, just to recharge. All the kids are in school and the house is quiet. My wife told me just to relax, but I can't help but feel I should be doing something. Are you able to just take a day and not do anything productive?

Hines Ward on Dancing With the Stars

I know it shouldn't surprise me, but I alway am when I see these athletes dance as well as they do. They are always usually in the competition running. I thought they all did pretty well except for the radio guy.

    Music & Schools

Yes, our kids have both art and music classes and extracurricular programs. My son started in the school band from 4th grade. I think it's so important for kids to have those kind of opportunities while growing up. It expands their view of the world.

    Buying The Groceries

My wife also likes doing the grocery shopping. She likes to wander up and down each isle looking for good deals. I on the other hand, like having a list and knocking those things off the list and getting in and out as quickly as possible. That's why my wife doesn't like me going with her to...

    So disorganized!

My wife has always been the morning routine person with the kids, and I don't know what she did to train them, but they are pretty good in the mornings. There used to be alot of "reminding" the night before, but now they know they have to be responsible for their own stuff.

    Roommates

That's just what I was thinking. We did have my wife's youngest sister living with us for a couple years, but we had a deal worked out before she moved in. She worked, payed us room and board, helped around the house and babysat the kids...we kind of missed her when she moved out.

    Confronting your boss...

Ok, now where did I put my backbone? There have been some issues with people getting their vaction requests approved. I put in for my summer vacation months ago. And today, I found out 6 out of the 10 days were approved. That's not going to work. I requested first, I have seniority, and...

A job and better grades...who knew.

My son has been itching to get a job. But, his grades have been average at best so we have told him to just enjoy being unemployed while he could. Well, when he turned 16, he went out and got a job at a fast food place. My wife was worried his grades would suffer even more. But, we got his...

    Without a salary increase?

If it was a step towards another goal, then yes, I would take the position. But, otherwise, it would really depend on the amount of extra work and additional time that would be required.

    Recording/Photos in Birthing Room

My wife said a big "no" to this as well. She said she didn't want pictures of her looking like...well, not so nice. So she let me take some of the baby, and then we did family pictures after my wife rested.

    Junk food guilt

We do the fast food thing every so often, but alot less than we used to. We have gotten better at having some meals frozen, so even when we don't have time enough to fully prepare a sit down dinner, we can still have one.

Whay is the NFL lockout all about?

I don't know what's going on, I keep catching glimpses about it has something to do with billions of dollars, but just seeing that irritates me enough to not really read the whole story. Can anyone just summarize what these fools are fussing about?

    Paying for college

I think parents should try and help out all they can. But let's face it, college is expensive and if you have a couple of kids or more, it's outrageous. We saved for our kids' college costs, but they always knew that they would have to get financial aid to make it through.

    Insane trips

I am a planner and wife is an extreme planner, so there's no way I'd be comfortable just taking a chance we'd find someplace to stay. I like to know my options and make a decision. But, that's just me...

    My dancing days are over!

That's probably something that will go down in the great memory file for your daughter. My kids love when I lot loose and just get silly. You did good lasting 30 minutes, I'd probably need oxygen after 15.

Vacations that appeal to wide age range?

Our family ranges in age from our kids at 8, 13, 16, 17 and 20, and then my wife and I in late 40's. My wife wants to take a vacation as soon as the kids are out of school and wants to do something all the kids will enjoy. She is suggesting going on a cruise, which we have never done. Any...

    Change of time - argh!

I have to be up before dawn for work anyway, so the time change does really affect me physically. But it does irritate me to think that my weekend was cut even shorter than usual. Well, here's looking forward to the longer days of summer.

    Wife nagging

I exercise more now than I did when I was younger, but my wife does, shall we say "encourage" me to eat healthier. But, I think at this point in our mariage she nows how to approach certain subjects without crossing the line into nagging.

    Mattress - please!

How old is your matress? I think this is one thing that most of us just don't think about replacing until our bodies start talking to us. Give the matress flip a shot, maybe buy a new pillow, then if your still creaking in the morning, I's definitely start matress shopping.

    Being a kid again?

Every once in a while, when I am sick, my wife will let me get away with acting like a little kid. But that's about the only time I get away with it. I agree with what Millman said, I have had chances to be a kid again with my own kids.
