2nd surgery = broken streak

Peyton Manning had another surgery - # 2. He had a cervical fusion on his neck. They estimate the recovery time to be 2-3 months but it could be longer. Man! I wonder when players start thinking about their bodies and what football is doing to them.

Yes, but they make so much money that even if their career is very short they are set for life. Not to mention that he could have a broadcasting career too. Even every day people push their bodies to far, yet they make much less.

I think you hit the nail square on the head with that one - making so much money. They make that money because they are killing their bodies. It's like that with boxing too.

The players think they are "superhumans" and won't get hurt.

I wonder how this will ultimately effect his ability to be an effective quarterback for the Colts? He just signed that huge contract...something in the area of 80 million dollars (give or take, I can't remember exactly) and I have to wonder if Indianapolis is regretting that decision right now that it appears he's out the entire season.
