Ear Infection?

How do you tell if a three year old is getting an ear infection. She has been picking at her ears all day long. She doesn't have a fever but she has had a snotty nose for several days. She does have seasonal allergies too but she's on medicine for that. Anyone?

When my son got an ear infection, there was no guessing about it. It was very painful. You might want to take her in for a check up, but if she isn't communicating pain, I would doubt an infection.

If she is pulling at her ears I would go ahead and take her in since she has a runny nose already. It may be sinuses and not allergies and you don't want it to turn into a sinus infection. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks guys. I may have to do that. We have a little walk in clinic in our town that I can take her to after hours. I would rather see her pediatrician but I have to work this week, we have inventory going on and it's a killer.
