First pet

We currently don't have any pets in our house, but we would like to get something. Our daughter is only two, but she loves animals! We were thinking of maybe getting her a fish. A nice, easy to care for type of pet. Is this a good idea? Any other suggestions on what would be good for a "first pet"? Thanks!

I think a fish is a great first pet or maybe even a hamster. It really depends on what you are going to be okay with taking care of. A lot of times when children get their first pets, they will get bored with them because they expect them to be more interactive. Maybe you could explain beforehand that the fish won't do much or that the hamster may not always want to be held etc.

I am not to sure about getting a hamster. I have heard that they can really start to smell after a little while, and I would be concerned about it getting lose and running throughout the house. Thanks for the suggestion though, Aiden.
