I think I spoiled my kids. I didn't think twice about it because money used to be just fine and I thought they deserved it. Now money is tight and I can see that they aren't adjusting well. Stupid economy! Now what do I do?
Just tell them the truth. Remind them that they used to get anything they wanted, but now money is not so easy to earn as it used to be, so they should understand and adjust to the situation.
I agree with TJoel. Be honest with them. And involve them in a cost-saving budget plan. That way they will learn to understand the value of money. It is never to late to teach it to them. Let them know that life is not always a bed of roses.
