The other day at a picnic, my friend asked my nine year old son who his favorite basketball player was. My son quickly blurted "Larry Bird." My initially response was "What?!" I just assumed it would be Lebron James or Dwayne Wade.
I asked him how did that come about. Apparently he's been watching a lot of NBA TV and they've been showing documentaries and old games of NBA legends like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. He was impressed on how someone like Larry Bird, who does not look all that athletic, could play the game so well and so unselfishly. I was a bit proud that my nine year old was smart enough to see that. It would be nice if he could also start playing like Larry Bird as well.
