Stepping into your child's relationships

My friend has a daughter who is dating a guy one year older than her. He seems like a nice enough kid, never given them any problems. They found out he's on probation. Do you think you would step into the relationship and end it or would you be okay with your teenager dating somebody on probation?

Well, it's a tricky situation. Of course the girl would say that he is OK because she loves him. But I wouldn't be happy to let my daughter have a relationship with someone on probation.
