Strange links

I don't understand the internet today. I just came across some strange links which look like this: www[dot]tinyurl[dot]com/dkr13n4kda. What the heck is this? How to guarantee that such links wouldn't lead you to webpages potentially harmful for your computer?

The words 'tinyurl' mean it's a link that has been shortened. You usually only see them on things like Twitter because character space is limited. I wouldn't open one anywhere else unless it was the preview type.

That's right. It's not the actual link, and I always try to avoid clicking links of that type. You will never know where the links will lead you to.
