Parenting is a team effort. The team must communicate with each other just like a sports team or any other team.

It is much more healthy for the parents to come to agreements on punishment and other things than for them to send their children more than one message.

Overruling the judgement given by a partner would seriously undermine the authority that he or she commandeered. The discussion should be held during a private chat, I had to convince several times about the quantum of punishment of certain abstinence.

I would talk to my wife before I did anything. I wouldnt want her to feel undermined if I let the child get out of her punishment. Since my wife is very sensitive about situations like this, I know that she would feel some kind of way if I did something like that. I wouldnt want her to go against my authority so I would treat her with the same respect.
