I think it depends if you enjoy using the skills you want to use for freelancing. I think if you enjoy doing it, it is well worth doing it for extra cash. Since you are sacrificing some of your free time, might as well be work that would be fun for you.

What skills do you have? If I had a better writing skill, I would have been monetizing it by writing web content. I heard that writing web content is a lucrative job and many writers are making nice income from it.
