My son is 10 and his bed time is 9 PM at the latest. I let him stay up that late mainly so I can talk to him before he goes to bed. Since I work crazy hours it is important to me to be able to see him before bed. My daughter is 3 and she goes to bed between 7 or 8 pm. She usually ends up in bed...
We go to the library at least twice a month. The kids love to pick out their own books and my wife likes to read so it helps. I don't read a whole lot of books so for me it is a time to sit down and read e-mail.
Yes, kids depend on technology way to much. I remember back in the day when you had to actually go outside and play with your friends rather than getting on a game system to chat and play call of duty.
Very interested. I am tempted to wait until they are at least in 8th grade. I see the good things in them allowing me to contact them or for them to call for help; but most kids abuse the privilege of having a cell phone.
I think it is an interesting punishment. There is a judge down in Texas, I forgot his name, but he'd make people do the same thing. The kid himself even said he deserved that punishment and thought it was good and showed him how to be responsible for his actions.
I am very active showing them ways to be better people. I do not make decisions for them but I point them in the right direction and teach them that if they make mistakes they must be accountable for their actions.
It can be very bad. It can lead to obesity an set a very bad example for your kids. I know that I often go the easy route as well and it is not easy to make the change but if you make an effort, you'll notice a difference pretty quickly.
You can contact a baby proofing company in your area. They may be able to suggest a better option such as installing a lock on the outside of the cabinet that would be mounted on your wall. It is hard to explain without pictures which is why it is probably best to consult someone local to you. :)
I would suggest that you be there for the girl. You think your scared and confused and lost; consider what she is going through as well. Being a father isn't something that others can tell you how to act, you learn as you go. You will make mistakes and look like a fool at times but other fathers...
I would agree with others with the Monkey Joes or even Wild Air. Wild Air is very similar to Monkey Joes but it is MUCH cheaper and parents get in free.
