    Teen Years

Has anyone besides me gone through the teen years with kids? I had a horrible time with one of my boys but my other boy and girl didn't give me any trouble at all. I'm hoping the youngest will go through puberty as easily as they did. How about you guys. Anyone with kids old enough to be teens?

    What about umbilical cord blood?

I wish we had done it for our latest child. They didn't have the service around when my wife had my older children. We had talked about it with the last one but we didn't do anything and eventually forgot about it when the time came.

    Proud of my daughter

Good to hear it. Man I tell ya, your kids can worry you to death. I would much rather be sick than to have them sick. It's much easier for me if I don't have to worry about them.

    Money issues

I would want my children to have at least a part time job when they are 16. Even if I have to drive them back and forth, I think it teaches them a sense of responsibility and how to handle money with guidance from my wife and I. Homework certainly comes first but I think they need to learn...

When Your House Is The Go To House

It's been many years since our kids were in school, but I still have fond memories of this time. Ours was the "go to" house for all of the kids during the summer and after school. We had a bunch of kids in and out all of the time. Our two boys were close in age and our daughter was the...

    Children & your wife

Having children strengthens relationships. You have to band together so you can survive childhood. Seriously though, we decided a long time ago we would discuss things before we ever came up with a punishment or discipline for our children. It worked very well and we never actually had that...

    Spring break

We had relatives close by who are stay at home moms or dads. They usually took the kids and we usually paid them (which they really didn't want but we did anyway). It's was really convenient and the kids got to be with relatives they didn't get to spend a whole lot of time with otherwise...

    a few tips

Good tips Dave. I think some places do DVDs now too. So you may want to ask before you go. I would add to this to have some things in the freezer to heat up for you both after the baby is born. You may not have a lot of time until you all get into a routine.

What's The Worst Thing You Have....

I've met people who have lost infants and they are just the same. It's horrible and not anything you can ever forget. A piece of you is gone. You go on and do what you need to but you will never be the same.

    Meeting someone

Wait until you can. That's the only thing you can do and have a clean conscience about it. It's not fair to either woman to do otherwise. But that's just my opinion. You may have a different one.

    Proud of my daughter

It's really rough when your child is sick. You guys will be in our thoughts. There is nothing scarier than having a child who is sick and knowing you can't do anything about it. Good luck to you and your family.

What's The Worst Thing You Have....

...ever encountered as a father. I don't mean the normal stuff but the serious things. I lost a son 2 years ago at age 43 and it still hurts like it was yesterday. Losing a child at any age is not anything I would wish on my worst enemy.

    Getting close, getting anxious

"back on track" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA After you have kids there is another "track". It's called a race track and you run it until the kids leave home and then sometimes it isn't the end. I love my kids but they sure can complicate life sometimes. Then the grandkids come along and it's "let the...

    Making A Difference

I have a problem that I don't know how to address. My wife has to deal with three of my kids on their every other weekend and two weeks in the summer visitation. She has our child too who is rather young. The three older ones think I defer to her to set the rules of the house but they aren't...

    Proud of my daughter

Gee Jason, I hate to hear that. I hope everything turns out good for you guys. That has to be very scary. I hate when the kids are sick anyway and that would be nerve wracking. Good luck man.

    The ultimate fathers day gift

Great DAY!!! At that price I would say I'd yell. But it is awesome looking isn't it? If you had bunches of money, I would say "go for it" but for the average guy, nope. Many more things I would rather have, like a house that's already paid for.

How old is too old for a stroller?

It really depends upon the child. If you are on a long walk and you wind up carrying a sleepy, grumpy, tired five year old, a stroller is in order. It is important for the child to learn to walk longer and longer distances but if you are the one gaining the most muscle from carrying the child...

    circumsized vs uncircumsized

I prefer the circumcision. I have worked in health care and I've seen several children with late circumcisions at ages 4-10. It is not a pleasant experience and I'm sure the child will remember the pain for the rest of their lives.

    Wife Not A Nice Person

Just smile and go on. That's the only thing you can do. Try to endure for the children's and grandchildren's sake. I know you won't be best friends but allowing her to see you hurt is just stoking the flame. I have primary custody of my kids but I let my ex be as much a part of their lives...

When Do You Let Them Meet?

I am a pretty private person as far as my kids knowing anything about my love life. I have primary custody and their mother has visitation. I have met a lady who is childless and is absolutely fantastic. My kids are 8 and 10, a boy and a girl. This lady and I have been going out now for...
