I'm approaching my fourth... or fifth?... visit to the dentist soon - it's at the end of the month. (I've lost count by now, honestly.) Anyways, they say they're going to do a "deep scale" and some fillings. Can someone please tell me what a deep scale is? The dentist seemed like he was in a hurry when he was explaining what my next visit was going to entail, so I just let it go, thinking my wife would know. She said it's basically like a more advanced version of cleaning your teeth... Is that right? If so, what's the difference? Why don't they just call it "cleaning your teeth really good"?
