Dog as jogging partner.

I'm not decided yet but I was thinking about getting a dog as a jogging partner. I'd prefer a medium sized one that is intelligent enough to run alongside me without me needing to hold the leash and is active enough to run about two miles a day, but not so active that it would destroy the house when left alone. Any recommendations for a specific breed?

You should look into a Bull Terrier, they are fun loving and energetic, they need a firm hand but if properly trained they will be a great companion, they are also independent enough to be left alone in the house.

Taking care of a dog can sometimes be more troublesome than taking care of a child, it's not like you can take him jogging and then forget about him for the rest of the day. That being said I'd recommend a lab, great family dog that likes to be active.
