Dog Days Of Summer

I read yesterday that the dog days of summer arrive officially on July 3rd. Apparently, the dog days can't read a calendar. It's only the 2nd and it sure is hot here. At least the sun is shining and it's not raining.

Huh. I never knew there was a date for the "dog days" to start. When does it officially end? We've been getting crazy temperatures since the beginning of June so I feel like I'm a month into the dog days.

I've always just thought it was an expression too. It's been horrible here for a while. I'm glad my wife works and my kids are in daycare--the electric bills for all day A/C would kill me.
