Earthquakes

I keep hearing about earthquakes, as I'm sure many of you have as well. I don't have as much time to watch the news and keep up with things that I'd like, but I'm worried. I have always been terrified of earthquakes and I live in a place that has them quite often. Maybe we should share tips on how to be prepared and safe for disasters like these.

First things that come to mind for me are:
-Having a heath kit as well as food in a safe place all packed up and ready to go. Extra clothes in here is always a good idea. (Keep old jugs of milk and fill them with water)
-When there is an earthquake, I've heard that being somewhere like a door frame is safer because it's a sturdier part of your house.
-Have a place to meet in case you and your family are separated.

I live in an area where the probability of having an earthquake is extremely low, so I am not concerned about it at all. However, it is scary to see how often earthquakes are becoming and the destruction left behind.
