Pets being part of the family

Is your pet part of the family? Does it eat at the same time as the other family members do? Does it sleep in your kids' bedroom? Do you allow these things?

 

[Glenn]

Our pets are a big part of the family and they are always with us. They don't sleep with my daughter because she sleeps with her door closed and they don't like feeling trapped, but I would certainly allow it if she ever starts sleeping with the door open.

 

[Alistair]

Not really, no. We do love our dog and treat him well, but... it is still just a dog. He stays in his own place in the house and eats anytime he wants, because we leave a bowl of dog food for him every morning and every afternoon. The children play with him during the day, but he doesn't sleep in their rooms.

We have a dog and a cat, and they are definitely part of the family. We had two dogs until last June when one died suddenly. We all miss him terribly!
