Are the in-laws actively trying to take the kids away? I do not support that at all, many people were raised by single parents. But if they just want to help out, financially or by being there, that might be beneficial.

We were very strict about not using baby talk around our kids and strangers aren't allowed to either. I've met kids who talked like that well after they should have stopped. So I don't do it at all.

I'm online for hours every day making a little extra money to support myself. I don't see it as leisure time so I don't think I'm on too much from that perspective. I do think it is unhealthy long term to sit at the computer hour after hour so I try to take breaks.

Chuck-E-Cheese is usally the only indoor play area we take the kids to around here but about twenty miles away there's a place called ARC Recreational Center. It's amazing, and they have rooms for both adults and childrens, and for both.

The smell alone should be harmless, even though it isn't very pleasant. There are still traces of the chemicals found in cigarette smoke on your clothing and in your mouth but I think it's minute enough to not pose any serious threat.

How about the beach? Sand is fun for kids to play with, especially the first time, and as long as he doesn't run into the water without a floatation device, it's a wide open space for him to run around.
