    Mouthy kids

My wife says even she's afraid when I give our son the "look". He's been really stubborn lately, so sometimes I have to add a "What did you say?" in my "angry voice" to make him realize this is battle he's already lost.

    Happy with your job?

I do like my job. But, while I can say that, life still has other stress factors that can put me in a bad mood. I would imagine things could get really bad for someone who doesn't like what they have to do for a living.

Are you going away on vacation this summer?

My wife is trying to talk me into a trip to Disney World this summer, but I'm leaning towards going up to the Wisconsin Dells and staying at one of those hotels with a water park (which would be cheaper!). Are you planning a getaway for this summer?

Discipline: you and your wife on the same page?

This has actually been an issue the last couple of months with me and my wife. She tends to give way too many second chances and I think our son is thinking all he has to do is cry and say he's sorry and that clears him of being in trouble.

    Camping!

I never really went camping as a kid, so it's not really in my comfort zone. But, a buddy of mine has invited my family to go with his on a trip this summer. He's a big camper, so I might take him up on the offer so my son can have the experience.

    Date night

My wife and I go out about two times a month. We don't have a problem with babysitting, as I have two sisters and she has her dad that'll watch our son. The main problem is finding the time.

    No, I'm the boss...

My 5 year old is getting quite the attitude. He's starting to talk back a bit. I can usually just raise my voice a bit and he backs down, but my wife is having a bit more trouble. Any suggestions on dealing with this new power struggle?

    Are you a handyman?

No, I am not even close to being a handyman. I can do basic home maintenance, but that's about it. I can read and follow instructions, so if I had to do something, I could probably muddle my way through it. Otherwise, I have some very handy friends that help when I call.

Do you swear in front of your kids?

I'm guilty of the occassional slip, but I have really learned to censor myself. My son is thankfully out of the stage of copying my wife or me when we do have a slip.

    What's your worst fear?

My mom died when I was a teenager. So my biggest fear is something happening to me and not being there for my son as he grows up.

Too much for a 5 year old?

Our son is going to be in little league T-ball for the second year this summer. He has on average 3 games a week for ten weeks. My wife thinks this is too much for a five year old. What has been your experience with little league baseball schedules or other sports as well?

    Paying for college?

From what I've heard of how the financial aid system is set up, the more you have saved actually works against you. Right now we have our son in private school and I'm working just to pay for that.

    Fast food

Every once in a while, we go ahead and get a burger or some chicken through a fast food place. I try not to make it a regular thing, but sometimes things just get so hectic, it's what we have to do.

Setting one day aside for just our family

Sundays are our family day. But during the summer, my sisters and their families also join us. We have a pool, and we get the grill going. I love that my son can really get to know his aunts, uncles and cousins. That's something I never really had.

    Vacations

We usually do one big vacation for a couple weeks each year. This year it's in June and we're going to Disney World. Other than that, I usually spread my vacation a few days here and there just to relax and get some projects done.

    Limiting video game time

They'll be playing before you know it. My son is 5 and already has a couple games he likes to play. Fortunately, he loses interest pretty quickly and moves on to other things. I'm sure as he gets older, limits will have to be enforced.

    Playing sports with the kids

I love sports and hope to see that kind of enthusiam in my son. We are getting ready for little league and the weather has been great so we have actually been able to get out and play.

    Stuck in the house

Any kind of art project could occupy them, even just coloring. Reading stories is another great way to spend some time. We also have a movie night once a week. We pick up a movie, pop some popcorn, make the living room theater dark, and watch a show.

When would you start their allowance?

I was just wonder, when is a good age to start a child on an allowance? My son is 5 and is starting to realize the importance of money. So, I'm thinking of giving him a few chores to earn an allowance. When do you think is a good age to start down this road?

    Preparing the Baby's Room

I actually did some remodeling (with the help of my sister and brother-in-law), including tearing out the old plaster and drywalling the room. I much more enjoyed buying the toys. I also bought a nice comfy rocking chair for my wife.
